In Asturias "of Asturias Ecoloxista Coordinator" has issued a note by reviewing the various issues affecting water management such as pollution sources, discharges, lack of many wastewater purification and therefore the huge backlog that takes the Principality in the implementation of European Directive 91/271/EEC on urban waste water treatment, which put a limit in December 2005 to achieve clearance of at least secondary treatment for all discharges of populations . This has not been achieved and environmentalists complain that there are still discharges polluting industrial complexes as in Gijón, Avilés, Navía ... etc, as well as unfortunate situations like the old case of the city of Oviedo and discharges into the river Gafo.
